It entered into decline in Late Antiquity, before being abandoned during the Middle Ages after a major earthquake flooded most of the city. In modern times it is an archeological site in Vlor\u00eb County, Albania, some 14 kilometres south of Sarand\u00eb and close to the Greek border. It is located on a hill overlooking the Vivari Channel and is part of the Butrint National Park.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>The city is considered one of the most important\u00a0archaeological sites\u00a0in Albania. It&#8217;s Beach and Albania&#8217;s Ionian Coast further north was included in the Guardian&#8217;s 20 of the best bargain beach holidays for 2013.<sup id=\"cite_ref-5\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #586783;\">The main attractions are the nearby Ksamil Islands. The mainland beach is small but clean.
